ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. has written safety manuals known to all employees which define its purpose and scope of the safety program.
Responsibility For Safety Defined
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. supervisors/foreman have key safety responsibilities; responsibilities for safety defined for everyone in the company in writing and are a part of the safety manual.
Experience Modification Rate (EMR) / Loss Ratio (LR)
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. EMR each of the past three years & current year is below 0.75 or loss ratio is 40% or less.
Resources For Safety
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. establishes resources annually for safety based on planned programs; employees are aware of safety budget.
Safety Program Goal Setting
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. setting long and short term goals conducts a needs analysis used to set safety program goals/objectives; an action plan is developed to accomplish set goals/objectives; feedback is required from assigned tasks; internal audits are conducted to assess action plan effectiveness.
Employer Supervisory Meetings
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. conducts weekly supervisor meetings wherein safety is the primary focus; safety issues reviewed and an overview of safety activity reviewed.
Pre-Planning For Jobsite Safety
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. requires pre-job safety planning required at bid stage; a hazard analysis is used to assure all exposures are addressed; precautions are taken prior to or at the start of the project, to deter any possible problems.
Employee Participation
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. supervisors are trained to facilitate employee participation; procedures set up for employees to participate in activities ranging from training to accident investigations.
New Employee Orientation
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. conducts a formal orientation program, for new employees; records are maintained indicating date, facilitator and topics covered; orientation includes training on job site safety rules, HAZCOM, major job exposures and emergency reporting procedures; company requirement for safe job performance stressed; employees sign receipt of safety orientation training.
Safety Rules
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. safety rules are in writing and are communicated to all employees; rules are concise and easy to understand; bilingual staff to ensure safety rules understood to address and language barrio issues; safety rules updated on regular bases and reviewed at weekly jobsite safety meetings; subcontractors are required and expected to follow all safety rules.
Employee Safety Training
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. assesses training needs and provides formal documented safety training in areas including hazard recognition, first aid/CPR, OSHA topics, equipment safety and trade specific safety (i.e. electrical; safety training conducted by quality safety instructors on site or offsite at the AGC, ABC or other construction industry organizations.
Toolbox Safety Meetings
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. Quality Control Safety Manager ensures weekly jobsite safety meetings conducted by supervisors, attendance and topic documentation maintained, and employee participation encouraged.
Inspections
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. requires weekly jobsite inspections conducted by site supervisors; wherein critical safety hazards are identified and corrected; result of inspection reported to wherein hazards are classified according seriousness and includes dates to assess corrective action effectiveness.
Accident Investigation
ACCENT Engineering and Construction Inc. requires site supervisor investigate all accidents and near misses; supervisors are trained in the techniques of accident investigation,; reports are completed for all accidents however minor; basic causes of all accidents are determined and addressed and information learned is incorporated at next safety meeting and onsite safety meeting; follow up steps taken to ensure corrective action implemented.
